April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing the guitar as well as taking piano classes, which ignited her passion for writing songs. April's first song was Different. She wrote it at 12 years of age. The singer spent much of her the time of 14 composing songs and experimenting with the piano. Then she began to take excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY in New York and LA. The month also saw her include different topics related to some of her friends dealing with such things as bullying by peers and teenage suicide as depicted in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is a partner at popular cosmetics brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with a huge following of her own. She was born without her left hand. It's part of who she is--but it's hardly her whole story. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not shy away from her being disabled, but neither does it focus on it. What message is it sending? It's important to keep in mind that everyone has multiple faces. Our identities vary and we're much more than our bodies. Lockhart said via video that she didn't want to be defined solely by her handicap. She doesn't wish to be a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are a lot of aspects to Lockhart. And it doesn't affect my daily life. I conduct everything normally and I've found my own way to adjust things. This is also part of my personality, and it should be discussed. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends regarding self-acceptance. She has gone through phases where she felt insecure about wearing certain clothing styles which showed her arms. It's her choice to wear what she wants, and she is proud to share photos of herself dressed in her favorite outfits. Self-love, she says is a process. It's hard to say when you'll reach the end. However, that is typical for people that is prone to doubts. The people around you with that truly understand you and see through your eyes are the best people to remind you of what you're worrying about.
